Executive VP, Global B2B Marketing

From small businesses in Kyoto to the largest corporations in the world, Clayton is responsible for bringing American Express’s vision to life of being essential to their customer’s businesses every day. His team sets the vision, strategy, and marketing plans to leverage data and creativity as competitive advantages in prospect and customer marketing across all channels and geographies.

Before assuming this role, Clayton served as the head of Global Brand Management where he implemented the company’s first global brand strategy, which focused on increasing price premium and engendering loyalty across our consumer, commercial and merchant customers. The brand strategy his team authored aligned human resources, operations and marketing to deliver an authentic brand experience end-to-end.

Clayton was named one of the world’s most influential global marketers by The Internationalist. He has held leadership roles at some of the world’s most creatively awarded advertising agencies including running the New York office of British agency BMB and leading E*trade, Pepsi, and The Economist accounts as Executive Vice President at BBDO. Prior to joining American Express, Clayton led global marketing at The Ritz-Carlton where he launched their “Let Us Stay With You” brand platform, which put the luxury brand in the business of selling memories, not hotel rooms.
